Direct Measured LDL: Some LDL cholesterol measurements are only estimates, based upon a calculation involving a combination of measured HDL cholesterol and Triglycerides. For a number of reasons, these calculated measurements can be inaccurate - a direct measurement of LDL generally provides a much more accurate result.

Calculated LDL: Many cholesterol testing methodologies utilize a calculation to estimate the quantity of LDL cholesterol in your bloodstream, rather than directly measuring it. There are a number of factors that can cause this calculation to produce inaccurate results.
